CBSE affiliation from Std 6

Now schools can apply for affiliation with Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) from sixth class. Earlier, the minimum cut off for the application was ninth class. The unanimous decision was taken by the governing body of CBSE at a meeting held in New Delhi recently.

According to Ashok Gupta, member of governing body and affiliation committee of CBSE, “The early stage affiliation would help the school to grow under the CBSE pattern before commencing secondary level classes. It would avoid opening of secondary classes without affiliation.”

Gupta said, schools would be completing requirement of affiliation at an early stage will facilitate further growth. This will remove the delay in the process of affiliation, added Gupta.

CBSC has also introduced a periodic assessment system to judge the academic and administrative performance of schools. And, also to check the number of students in schools at different level. “This system will improve the quality of education and keep a tab on the number of the students,” said Gupta.

The governing body has issued guidelines for number of students in a school should be in proportion with the land area. Schools with one acre are made suitable for 1,250 students. Schools with two acres can accommodate 2,500 students. And Schools with above two acres will accommodate students in proportion with the land.

The All India Pre-Medical test will not have any subjective questions from 2010 onwards. This was also decided in the meeting.
