Errant CBSE ICSE schools should start own 11th std classes
CBSE and ICSE schools should start their own 11th standard classes if they do not agree with local policies, Maharashtra Education Minister Vasant Purke said.
“As per the Government resolution it is mandatory for ICSE and CBSE schools to start their own 11th and 12th standard classes,” Purke said while replying to a debate on education in the Legislative Council.
He also warned them if they do not start junior colleges to accommodate their own students then strict action would be taken against them.
Purke criticised the strong bureaucratic lobby for favouring CBSE and ICSE schools and said that a ‘code of conduct’ would be issued for them.
The code would contain Marathi as a compulsory language and singing National song ‘Vande Matarm’, he added.
Defending the 70:30 formula which gives 70 per cent priority to local students in 11th class admission, Purke said it will be implemented from next year.
“The main objective to implement the formula was to encourage rural students for higher education and it was agreed by all,” he said.
Commenting on percentile formula which equalises marks of SSC, CBSE and ICSE students, Purke said it was made by experts and would be implemented from next year.
He also announced that online and centralised admissions for 11th class would be carried out from next year to avoid any confusion or complaints.
